Hackers hit the movie theaters in 1995, the internet was still in its infancy and hacking was sub-culture a few knew or spoke about. The film was the first incarnation of hacking on the silver screen post-internet. It told the story of famed hacker "Zero Cool" aka Dade Murphy known for crashing of 1,507 systems in one day got him banned from owning or operating a computer until he was eighteen. Dade eventually meets a group of hackers at his new school.
